Symptoms of liver disease
Often there are no symptoms of liver disease until the end stage.

These are the warning signs
of liver disease
DIGESTIVE AND APPETITE
- Appetite loss
- Nausea, feeling sick or queasy especially after eating
- Indigestion, gas or bloating
- Cravings after meals
- Bad breath
- Vomiting blood (internal bleeding)
- Dark coloured stools (internal bleeding)
- Pale or clay coloured stools (high Bilirubin)
- Dark coloured urine
- Dull ache on right side under ribs
SKIN, EYES AND APPEARANCE
- Yellowing of skin and eyes (Jaundice)
- Itchy skin (Pruritus) with no clear cause
- Easily bruised or bleeding skin
- Spidery veins on skin (Spider angiomas)
- Reddened palms (Palmar erythema)
- Widened blood vessels around the belly button
- Veins around the belly (Caput medusa)
- Enlarged breasts in men
- Testicular shrinking
FLUID, SWELLING AND WEIGHT
- Fluid in abdomen (Ascites)
- Fluid retention in legs (Oedema)
- Swollen ankles
- Belly weight gain
- Difficulty losing weight (partly from fat, partly from Ascites)
- Unexplained weight loss
- Weight loss including Sarcopenia, especially in Cirrhosis
- Excessive sweating
SYSTEMATIC AND NEUROLOGICAL
- General tiredness and fatigue
- Encephalopathy and brain fog (confusion)
- Disturbed sleep patterns
- Muscle wasting
- General muscle weakness or loss of physical stamina
- Fatigue and dark circles under the eyes, not relieved by sleeping
- Mood swings or irritability
- Impotence in males
- No periods in women
- Disturbed sleep patterns
