Reverse Fatty Liver
It may only take 30 days
What is fatty liver disease?
Fatty liver disease is now called MASLD – metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease. The old name for the disease was NAFLD – non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. 100 million Americans have fatty liver disease. One in every three people have fatty liver disease. Non-alcoholic fatty liver has overtaken alcoholic liver disease as the main cause of cirrhosis.
The risk factors
of fatty liver disease
Being overweight / obese
Type 2 diabetes / high blood glucose
High cholesterol / Triglycerides
Hypertension – high blood pressure
It is a sedentary lifestyle that leads to the disease. A sedentary lifestyle is a major risk factor.
Tried Ozempic?
Did you lose weight?
Any side effects?
The latest drug to hit the market is Ozempic. The GP is happy to prescribe it. It does work for many people. However, the side effects can be severe. There is a risk of a condition called gastroparesis – paralysis of the stomach. This is a condition that is not widely discussed but is a known risk of the drug.
There are hundreds of people in the Restore Your Liver Act Now Facebook group who have tried Ozempic and many other people who have reversed their fatty liver without drugs, using diet and exercise. Which would you prefer? Read the book to find out more.
The risk factors for fatty liver disease (MASLD)
are obesity, Type 2 diabetes, cholesterol and hypertension
Your GP needs to check all of these along with fatty liver at the same time
OBESITY
Do you know your BMI? Do you need to lose weight? Talk to your doctor. Your GP is trained to advise you on obesity. It is relatively easy to lose weight if you follow the right plan.
TYPE 2 DIABETES
Did you know that up to 75% of people with type 2 diabetes have fatty liver? Your GP should be checking your HbA1c at each visit. It is important to address type 2 diabetes at the same time as fatty liver disease.
CHOLESTEROL
High cholesterol is another risk factor for MASLD. Your GP should be checking your LDL, HDL, and triglycerides regularly. Read the book to find out more.
HYPERTENSION
High blood pressure is the fourth risk factor for MASLD. One third of Australians have hypertension and may not be aware of it.
To assess your fatty liver, your GP
must assess 5 different conditions
at the same time
Your GP is trained to check for all of the MASLD conditions. However, time and Medicare rebates restrict the number of things a GP can check in a single consultation. It is important that you ask your GP to check all of these conditions at the same time. The book follows you as a patient through every step of the assessment of fatty liver disease.
Ask your GP – which one of these is grade 3 fatty liver?
Can your GP tell you what your Ultrasound or Fibroscan report means?
Some tests to assess your fatty liver disease
FIB-4
Using Age, platelets. AST,A LT
MELD SCORE
Model for End Stage Liver Disease – what is your MELD score?
CHILD-PUGH SCORE
A scoring system used to assess the prognosis of liver disease.
APRI
AST to platelet ratio index – a simple blood test to assess liver fibrosis.
FLI
Fatty Liver Index – a score based on BMI, waist circumference, triglycerides, and GGT to predict fatty liver.
